The Tacoma Stars have announced the re-signing of veteran midfielder Derek Johnson.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed per league and team policy.
Johnson, a Tacoma native and Pacific Lutheran University alum, will begin his sixth season with the team when the Kent-based Stars get underway in November. He picked up three goals and a pair of assists in 14 regular season games for Tacoma in 2018-19. Johnson has tallied 69 points on 46 goals and 23 assists in 76 career games for the Stars.
“Derek exemplifies effort, sacrifice and dedication to improvement,” said coach Nick Perera. “He can score goals and his work rate is unmatched. The organization as a whole is excited Derek is coming back.”
Stars preseason friendlies kick off in September. The Stars play the Tacoma Stars Reserves and Narrows FC on Sept. 14 and 21, respectively. Both games start at 7 p.m. at the Tacoma Soccer Center.
