The King County Jaguars are back home at French Field, and will kick off their 2008 minor league football season on Saturday night.
Coming off their third consecutive Northwest Football League championship, the Minor League Football Association West National championship, and an NAFL Pacific Coast Division title, the Jaguars will play host to the Kitsap County Bears at 7:30 p.m.
The Jaguars, with new coach Mike Astley, have left the NWFL and have moved up to the North American Football League.
Last year, the Jaguars played out of Auburn Memorial Stadium while a new Field Turf surface was installed at French Field on the Kent-Meridian High School campus.
The Jags will play five games at French. In addition to tonight’s opener, They’ll play host to the British Columbia Spartans in the Kent Cornucopia Bowl on July 12 (7 p.m.), the East County Blackshirts on July 26 (7 p.m.), the Southern Oregon Renegades on Aug. 16 (7 p.m.), and the Valley Mustangs on Sept. 20 (7:30 p.m.).
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 62 and older and for military personnel with ID, $7 for students with ASB, and $5 for children ages 6-12.

Enumclaw Girl wins the Irish Day Handicap
Enumclaw Girl made a smooth transition from sprinter to router Sunday at Emerald Downs.
The gray filly led all the way in posting a 3½-length victory in the $50,000 Irish Day Handicap for 3-year-old fillies.
With Gallyn Mitchell riding at 119 pounds, Enumclaw Girl ran the one mile in 1:37 on a fast track and paid $2.80, $2.20 and $2.20. Rosie Simkins is the trainer for owner/breeder Doris Konecny of Enumclaw.
Enumclaw Girl now has two stakes victories this season and came within a neck of a third. The daughter of Katowice has three wins in four starts overall and $74,680 in earnings, including $27,500 for Sunday’s triumph.
