Rodney Stuckey, a former Kentwood High School star basketball player, signed a one-year NBA contract on Monday with the Indiana Pacers.
Stuckey, 28, played his first seven years with the Detroit Pistons after starring at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. He was a free agent after last season.
“It’s a fresh start and I’m excited for it,” Stuckey said at a press conference after signing with the Pacers.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard averaged 13.9 points and just 2.1 assists per game last season. He is expected to contend for a starting spot with Indiana, which signed Stuckey and C.J. Miles but lost free agent Lance Stephenson to the Charlotte Hornets.
Stuckey helped lead Kentwood to the Class 4A state high school basketball title in 2004.
