The Seattle Thunderbirds rallied from a 3-1 deficit late in the second period to force overtime, but eventually fell to the Everett Silvertips 4-3 on Sunday evening at Comcast Arena in Everett.

The Silvertips (28-16-2-1) took a 1-0 lead with Shane Harper’s 27th goal of the season at 12:50 of the first period. It was a power-play goal assisted by Chris Langkow and Radko Gudas.

Everett outshot the Seattle 8-4 in the period.

The T-Birds (14-25-4-4) tied the game 1-1 with center Colin Jacobs’ second goal in as many nights at 2:13 of the second period. Mitch Elliot and Tyler Alos earned the assists.

Jacobs played several minutes with the first line in place of Prab Rai, who did not play due to an undisclosed injury sustained against Kamloops on the night before.

Josh Winquist gave Everett a 2-1 lead a little over a minute later a 3:43 of the period with his third goal of the season. Ryan Murray and Markus McCrea were credited with the assists.

McCrea scored his fourth goal of the year at 7:19 to give the the Tips a 3-1 lead. D. Jay McGrath and Gudas picked up the assists.

T-Bird center Brenden Silvester scored an unassisted goal at 12:26 to cut the Silvertips’ lead to 3-2. Silvester gained control of the puck at center ice and skated down the right boards, stopped at the top of the right circle and snapped a quick wrist shot that beat Everett goalie Thomas Heemskerk low and stick side. The goal was Silvester’s third of the year.

The T-Birds outshot the Tips 12-8 in the second period. Both teams had 16 shots on goal through 40 minutes of action.

Luke Lockhart’s third goal of the season tied the game 3-3 at 6:32 of the third period. With the T-Birds on a power-play, defenseman Jeremy Schappert fired a slap shot from the left point that was deflected in front of the net by Charles Wells. The puck came loose off the pads of Heemskerk right to Lockhart who tipped it in.

Both teams had several scoring opportunities in the closing moments of regulation, but neither could convert and the game went to a 4-on-4 overtime period.

Seattle outshot Everett 14-10 in the period and held a 30-26 advantage through regulation.

Harper scored the game winner and second goal of the night at 2:25 of the overtime session to give the Silvertips a 4-3 victory. Zack Dailey earned the assist.

Heemskerk faced 32 shots and made 29 saves. His record improves to 16-8-1-1.

T-Bird goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 26 of the 29 shots he faced. He is now 12-21-4-4 on the season.
