The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-2 Feb. 20 night at ShoWare Center in Kent.

Seattle (14-35-7-4) went in front 1-0 at 10:36 of the first period on Chance Lund’s fifth goal of the year. Brenden Silvester blocked a shot, gained control of the puck in the neutral zone and quickly turned up ice to create an odd-man rush with Lund skating to his left. Silvester carried the puck across the blue line and fed a pass under the lone Silvertip defender to Lund who went backhand and beat Silvertips’ goalie Kent Simpson glove side.

The T-Birds and Silvertips were tied with 10 shots on goal through the first period.

Prab Rai put the T-Birds in front 2-0 at 3:06 of the second period with a power-play goal. Charles Wells put a shot on goal from the top of the left circle that was deflected behind the Everett net. Luke Lockhart got to the puck and backhanded it to Rai at the right post. Rai beat Simpson through the goalie’s legs for his 35th goal of the season.

Everett (39-19-3-1) got on the board at 11:09 of the second on a power-play goal by Tyler Maxwell. Byron Froese and Kellan Tochkin had the assists.

The Silvertips tied the game 2-2 at 13:24 of the second on a goal by Dan Iwanski. Clayton Cumiskey and Scott McDonald had the assists on the goal.

The T-Birds outshot the Silvertips 12-10 in the second period and held a 22-20 shot advantage through two periods.

Froese gave Everett a 3-2 lead with his 25th goal of the season at 6:31 of the third period. Maxwell and Radko Gudas earned the assists.

Shane Harper scored an empty-net power-play goal at 19:19 of the third period to give Everett their fourth goal of the night. Harper’s goal was unassisted.

The Silvertips outshot the T-Birds 15-10 in the final period and 35-32 for the game.

Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 31 of the 34 shots he faced. His record is now 12-29-7-4.

Simpson faced 32 shots and made 30 saves. He is now 19-9-1-0.
