The Kent-based Seattle Thunder will play the Denver Rush in an X League women’s football game at the accesso ShoWare Center.
The 7 on 7 full-contact tackle football game will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 25.
This marks the debut season of the league. Mike Ditka, a member of the NFL Hall of Fame and former Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints coach, is backing the eight-team league.
Tickets are $65 for field level, $45 for lower sideline, $35 for sideline, $30 for party zone, $25 for lower end zone and $15 for upper end zone. For tickets, go to accessoshowarecenter.com.
Top players for the Thunder are expected to be quarterback KK Matheny and receiver Kiarra Williams, according to xleague.live.
Seattle has just one other game on the regular season schedule when it travels Aug. 6 to play at the Chicago Blitz. The Blitz opened the X League season with a 40-34 win against the Kansas City Force on June 10. The league schedules only one game per week.
Two league playoff games are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 27 at the ShoWare Center. The winners will play for the title Sept. 1o at Austin, Texas.
In addition to Seattle, Denver, Kansas City and Chicago, the other teams in the league include the Los Angeles Black Storm, Austin Sound, Atlanta Empire and Mesa Red Devils.
The ShoWare Center has offered women’s football games most years since the city-owned arena opened in 2009. It started with the Seattle Mist in the Lingerie Football League which later changed its name to the Legends Football League.
The X League had planned to debut in 2020 but COVID-19 halted the season.
