The Tacoma Stars have re-signed Raphael Cox for the 2018-19 Major Arena Soccer League season.

Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Cox, who also is the director of the Tacoma Stars Youth Academy, played in all 22 regular season games last season, plus the three postseason matches. He picked up 24 points (18 goals, six assists) in those 25 games.

A Tacoma native, Cox played a season at Highline College before transferring to the University of Washington. Drafted by Real Salt Lake in 2009, he saw playing time with the team that won the MLS Cup.

For his MASL career, Cox has appeared in 40 games and averages over a point-per-game with 29 goals and 12 assists good for 41 points.

“I would argue that the 2017-2018 season was the best of Raph’s career in soccer,” said Stars coach Darren Sawatzky. “He was dangerous from day one and scored some very important goals for us as we fought our way into the playoffs. Considering his career and the championships he has won, having him back in our team adds a dimension to the attack that makes the games exciting and gives us a chance to score at will.”

The Stars kick off the season on Saturday, Dec. 1 against the Turlock Express at the accesso ShoWare Center.
