A day after a shocking setback, Kentridge recovered Friday to stay alive for some chrome at the 4A Hardwood Classic.
Jordyn Jenkins, a 6-foot-2 sophomore, scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Chargers (25-3) pulled away from Camas in the second half of their elimination-round game to deliver a 60-44 win at the Tacoma Dome.
The No. 3 Chargers, who were upset by Woodinville in an overtime quarterfinal battle Thursday, plays a familiar foe – North Puget Sound League Cascade Division rival Kentlake (21-8) – for the fourth-place trophy at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Kentridge defeated Kentlake 55-44 in last year’s state quarterfinals and twice again this past regular season – 38-33 on Dec. 16 and 50-38 on Jan. 19.
Guard Tresai McCarver scored 13 points and distributed five assists, and 6-4 junior forward Jaquaya Miller finished with 10 points, six rebounds and four steals for Kentridge, which shot nearly 52 percent from the field for the game.
Morgan Gary had eight points, five rebounds and three assists. Dayla Ballena scored six points and had three steals.
Courtney Clemmer paced the Papersmakers (17-10) with 14 points.
Kentridge trailed 29-23 at the half before going on a 23-11 run in the third quarter to grab 46-40 lead entering the fourth quarter. Kentridge held Camas to four points in the final period.
