Eight games in one day will highlight the 2010 Les Schwab Preview, a high school basketball event set for Highline Community College in Des Moines Dec. 11.
And along the way, some of the state’s best basketball players will be on display.
Two of the most highly recruited players in Washington will take part in the event as Brett Kingma of Jackson takes on defending state champion Kentwood and Gary Bell of Kentridge goes up against Christian Behrens of Tahoma.
Kingma has signed to play at the University of Oregon and led his team to a spot in last year’s Class 4A state championship game against Kentwood. Bell has signed to play at Gonzaga and will lead Kentridge into a game again Tahoma and 6-foot-8 recruit Behrens, who has not signed as of yet.
Kentridge and Tahoma will square off at 5:00 p.m. while Jackson and Kentwood go against each other at 7:00 p.m.
Also on the schedule will be Jerron Smith of Decatur who leads his Gators into a matchup against Mercer Island at 3:30 p.m. Smith will attend Portland State University,.
Another one of the state’s top young player junior Mitch Penner of Kennedy leads his Lancers against Wilson of Tacoma in a 9 a.m. game.
Two of the state’s top girls teams will meet at 8:30 p.m. when Class 3A favorite Holy Names takes on Class 4A power Woodinville.
Tickets are $10 and available at the door at Highline Community College.
