I am a person who loves football and has been involved in it since the ’50s. Because of my love for football I attended the first home game of the Kent Predators last night.
I came away from the game almost hating the game of football. Then I gained my senses again and decided it was not football I hated, it was the lack of class shown by the Predators players and coaching staff.
The players did more fighting than playing the game of football and the coaches stood by and let them do it. I have coached football in the Kent schools for 38 years and know how the game should be played and how much control coaches have over their players.
I say the team either gets under control and learns to play football, or it needs to leave the town of Kent. Kent has too much class for what they demonstrated last night.
I hope the Kent Reporter does not endorse the actions shown by the team so far. I hope you have the courage to call them out and make them want to play the game by following the rules and keeping their cool. I hope no young players in the Kent area think this is what a player should do during a game.
