Since Tiger Woods is still in a self-imposed exile, we can all feel sorry for him that he has contracted this horrible disease. He has said he is going to continue his treatment and work out his issues with his wife Elin.
The disease in question is not alcoholism or drug addiction, but still an addiction none the less. It is not cancer or diabetes, but yes, sex addiction.
This addiction makes you do strange things. Such as dating women who are well, “skanky.” You also have an obsession with lying to your spouse on every occasion about your whereabouts, and having your brain lose all blood flow to it and pooling south of the border. This disease is so nasty men have woken up in the morning only to find money missing from their wallets and an itchy feeling all over.
Except I don’t believe one word of it. He should be in treatment, but not for sex addiction. He needs to realize that there is no such thing as sex addiction. It’s called a character flaw. Or lack-of-character flaw, if you will. Men are dogs. We have known that since time immemorial. We all fantasize about other women, but we don’t act on it. Why? Because it’s wrong that’s why. Most men are terrified at the idea of our wives catching us cheating. That alone is a good reason not to. But it is just wrong and Tiger showed no respect to his wife, kids, family, and friends.
I hope you noticed I didn’t say fans. Tiger owes his fans nothing. This was a personal matter between him and his wife, and the 12 or so cocktail waitresses he hooked up with.
I hope he at least paid off their Visa bills. I don’t care about Tiger’s explanation or his reasoning. You have a gorgeous wife, a mansion, two kids and more money than Oprah. So why are you sniffing around other women?
Tiger said in his “press conference” that he felt entitled to do whatever he wanted to. Yes Mr. Woods, you have millions of dollars and I am sure women are hitting on you 24-7. But sex addiction is not a disease.
Alcoholism and drug addiction are serious problems in this country, and people take them seriously. Your problem is your brain isn’t in control of your hormones anymore. And that is not an addiction but lack of willpower and a disrespect for others. I hope you tell them that in your next group session.
Meanwhile do whatever it take to save your marriage. Start by apologizing every day to your wife from now on. But after 12 or so affairs, will she listen?
