Rose Helen Richardson died peacefully on Monday morning, November 23, 2009, at Avera Weskota Manor in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Hudson Richardson in 1982. A memorial service will be held at St James Episcopal Church in Kent on Friday, December 4 at 2:00 pm.Rose Helen was the only child of Leroy and Ruth (Wahlund) Stull born August 20, 1917, in St. Paul, Minn. While still an infant, the family moved to Seattle. She graduated from West Seattle High School in 1935. During her school years she studied and performed ballet with the Edith Latimer Dancing Studio. She married Lloyd on July 8, 1939. Together they raised five children on Panther Lake near Kent. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Girl Scout Leader, and volunteered St. James Episcopal Church and St. James Thrift Store. She loved gardening, camping, beach combing, golfing, square dancing, playing bridge, Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas, watching old movies, and above all, attending the many sporting events in which her children and grandchildren participated. Rose Helen moved to Wessington Springs in 2002. Even as her health declined, her sharp wit and beautiful smile continued to endear her to many.She is survived by her children David (Elizabeth) of Kent, Kathryn Dean (Thomas) of Wessington Springs, Stephen (Judy) of Wenatchee, James (Janet) of Bend, OR, and Mary Ann Lopez (Luis) of Ravensdale. Her grandchildren are Matthew Richardson, David Richardson, John Richardson, Gwyneth Dean Witte, Alex Dean, Carl Dean, Rebecca Robinson, Bradley Richardson, Angela Delvo, Lisa Potter, Jennifer Richardson Bozarth, and Molly Rose Richardson, and 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Virginia Richardson Cleveland, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite charity.
