David Brandsen (68) passed away at his home in Kent, WA on November 6, 2022.
Though Dave was a Pacific Northwest native, living in Oregon and on both sides of the Cascades in Washington, he also spent many happy years on Maui. Born to Elmer and Capitola in Oregon City, the 9th of 10 children, his youth was spent in Oregon, where he graduated from Grover Cleveland High School. From Oregon he moved to Walla Walla, where he met and married Teresa. In 1982 they welcomed their beloved daughter, Brook. After meeting the love of his life, Eileen, in Kennewick, they married and moved to Maui, embracing island life. When they returned to the Northwest they set down roots in Kent, where they could be closer to their families. After Eileen passed, Dave met Valentina and they happily shared new adventures together.
Dave was a respected, long-time member of the propane business. His path took him from Cal Gas to Maui Gas, on to AmeriGas, and he recently retired from Blue Star Gas. Outside of work he enjoyed collecting, maintaining, and driving cars and motorcycles. Dave loved going fast and a good, modified exhaust. He took great pride in his restored 1964 Ford truck, known to many as Boston. Spending time with family and friends was a priority. He deeply valued his relationship with his brothers Bob (and Lola) Brandsen, Steve (and Candy) Brandsen, and Richard Brandsen (Deceased), and their families. Dave also remained close with the Solomon’s, his Coeur d’ Alene family, sharing a special bond with Gary (and Judy) Solomon.
Dave is lovingly remembered as a Grandpa, cherishing time spent with Brook and her husband Chad Irwin’s children –
Kailee and Karson Irwin. He was fondly referred to as ‘Bubba’ by his step-daughter Pam Morgan’s sons – Keanan Morgan, Cole Morgan, and Trey Morgan, and by his step-son Jon Miller’s daughters – Madison Kohout and Tayler Ahrend.
Dave is survived by numerous family and friends, both near and far. He will be greatly missed and his sudden passing is deeply mourned. Over the last few days in his home, we have been struck by his deep sentimentality, marveling at the notes and mementoes that he saved. He surely would recommend that you tell those you love how you feel, as often as you can.
A celebration of life will be held, at a date still to be determined. (Marlatt Funeral Home, Kent WA).
