Robert (Bob) Hiranaka
Bob Hiranaka passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2013.
Bob was born in Kent, WA on November 17, 1925 to Heisaku and Takeyo Hiranaka. During WWII, he and his family were interned at Tule Lake and later Minadoka internment camps. In 1944, he was drafted and served in the US Army Military Intelligence Service (MIS). After the war, he returned to Kent and worked on the family farm. In 1952, he started his 31 year career with the US Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife, Haruko, whom he married on November 24, 1951, and daughters Karlyne Iwata (Thomas) and Diane Stugart. His siblings Betty Hirano and Dan Hiranaka also survive him; 6 others predeceased him.
Bob’s greatest love, beside his family was travelling, especially long driving vacations.
A private memorial celebrating his life has been held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Parkinsons Foundation or Seattle NVC Foundation.
