May 28, 1949 – May 6, 2024
Merilyn Catlin was born in Renton, May 28, 1949 to Bob and Rosemary Smith. She passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with cancer.
She graduated from Kent- Meridian High School in 1967. During high school, Merilyn began working in a dental practice that later became Panther Lake Dental. After attending the University of Washington Merilyn went on to the dental hygiene program at Yakima Valley College. She returned to Panther Lake Dental where she thoroughly enjoyed the profession and worked there many years. She really enjoyed the people she worked with and all of her patients. They were family to her.
Merilyn was an active boater with her husband, Jim, and their many sailing friends. She was always a gracious host and an active participant in all boating events. She and Jim also spent several months during northwest winters in Mexico in recent years developing enduring friendships with local residents and regular visitors to the town.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years Jim Catlin, her sister and her brother-in-law Nancy and Al Schlecht, and loving nephews and nieces.
Merilyn was a special person loved and appreciated by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
