Maynard L. Ackerson
Maynard L. Ackerson born September 1, 1929 in Aberdeen, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2010. He was born in Aberdeen, SD and spent the early years of his life in Houghton and Columbia, South Dakota before joining the US Army in Korea (1951-53). He married Dona Struck in 1951 and moved to Washington State in 1956 where he lived out his life in the city of Kent. He was survived by his wife Dona of 59 years, his daughters Penny Ackerson and Nancy Konen (David Konen), and his 2 grandchildren Stephanie and Matthew Konen, also many nieces and nephews. He worked as a quality control inspector for the US government for 30 years with 25 years at Heath Techna and met monthly with the retirement group. He volunteered with the 4H clubs, was president of the King County Fair board, Commander of the Kent American Legion, and managed the Auburn Eagles Bingo operation. He also managed the Kent Jaycee Bingo, volunteered with the Kent Jaycees during Cornucopia Days, and spent many hours volunteering with the Washington Jaycees. He enjoyed crafting weather stations, birdhouses and lights. He belonged to the Royal Rovers RV Club. He enjoyed many years traveling in the motorhome. The Memorial service will be held on June 26, 2pm at the Kent United Methodist Church, burial services will be held June 28, 2pm at Tahoma National Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Northwest Kidney Foundation.
