L.L. “Roy” Kramer
Leonard Leroy “Roy” Kramer, age 90, passed away July 26, 2009 in Renton, WA. He was born June 2, 1919 in Spokane, WA, to parents Olaf and Sybil Pauline Kramer.He graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1938 and attended college in Idaho on a basketball scholarship until joining the Navy in 1940. He served on the USS Pennsylvania as a radio operator and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He also served in the Korean conflict.Roy married Alyce Enga Oberg in 1942. She passed away in 1972. On February 12, 1977, he married Marcella Y. Wagner in Montesano, WA.He joined Pacific Northwest Bell in 1947; retiring in 1982 as a US West District Manager, after which time he owned and operated Kramer Construction Company.Roy had a strong belief in God and family. He was confirmed by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of West Seattle in 1953. Roy enjoyed working hard, laying in the sun and loved to be around his grandchildren.Roy is survived by his wife, Marcella Kramer of Kent, WA; son, David Kramer of Seattle, WA; daughter, Carol (Tom) Alexander of Covington, WA; son, Danny (Denise) Machut of Lake Forest Park, WA; son Richard Machut of Long Beach, CA; daughter, Elisa (Richard) Hansen of Kent, WA; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, Norm Kramer and sister, June Reynolds of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.Roy will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA on August 28, 2009 at 2:30 p.m.
