Lawrence W. Wandrey Jr. passed away at his home in Littlerock, Washington, on March 4, 2018, at the age of 66. He was surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born in 1951 to Lawrence W. Wandrey Sr. and Gertrude Wandrey in Renton, Washington. Larry lived in Kent, Washington, until moving to Littlerock in 2007.
Larry graduated from Kent Meridian High School in 1969, and continued his education at Green River Community College where he graduated in 1971. Professionally, Larry “Moose” was a police officer for the City of Kent from 1973 to 1987. Following his service with the police department, Larry worked as a 911 Call Receiver at Valley Communications Center from 1987 to 2007. Larry was a member of the Kent Lutheran Church.
Larry worked hard for his family, and was a devoted father and husband. He sought to serve family, friends and community alike. He loved spending time with family, especially his amazing grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, racquetball, basketball, attending Husky football games, and playing poker with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Wandrey of Littlerock; children, Shonna Price (Jeff) of Buckley, WA, Shannan Poe (Will) of Bonney Lake, WA, Shara (Casey) Nelson of Port Orchard, WA, and Kayce Wandrey of Covington, WA; stepchildren, Troy Smithmeyer (Vivian) of Puyallup, WA, and Heather Smithmeyer (Dwane) of Everett, WA; nine grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Sporcic (Ray) of Kent; and lifelong friend, Monte Driggers of Auburn. He was predeceased by his parents.
