Joseph Anthony Canale, Jr.

Joe’s family and friends will remember him as an outdoorsman, with a compassionate heart and a love for fishing. He was raised in Jamestown, New York by his parents Joseph and Theresa Canale. While at Union College in Schenectady, NY he met his wife Marilyn (Lynn), married in 1953 and graduated in 1954. Joe moved his family to Seattle in 1960 to work for Boeing. While on the first Minuteman Project he temporarily relocated to North Dakota and Wyoming where he spent his spare time hunting and fishing. After his Boeing career Joe started his own business Acoustic Imports in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood, retiring 28 years later in 1998. He was preceded in death by his wife Lynn and his son Daniel. He is survived by his daughter Diana Lavachek (Wade), Linda Janssen (Scott), Susan Verhaar (Mike) and 6 grandchildren.The family would like to thank hospice at Veterans Memorial Hospital for all their patience, care and compassion.In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to VA Puget Sound Fisher House http://www.fisherhousevaps.org/. A grave site service will be held at St Patrick’s Cemetery in Kent at 10:30 am July 25th followed by a celebration of his life, family and friends at the Founders Lodge at Des Moines Beach Park.
