Ida Marie Smreker
Ida Marie Smreker, died on Saturday, April 3, 2010 in Covington, Washington. The third of six children of Anton and Ella Maskell Smreker, was born on October 3, 1913 in rural Hartman, Arkansas. After graduating from Hartman High School, she went temporarily to Fort Smith, Arkansas to aid Marie Woestman, her grandmother’s grandniece, to raise her children. This temporary situation became permanent as she became part of the family of Marie and Bill Woestman, Sr., and their six children. She moved with them to Carthage, Missouri. Later she moved with Pat Woestman Corich to assist her in raising her children, Cathy, Bill, E.J., and Trish, first to Moses Lake, Washington, then to Eva Beach, Hawaii, Carbondale, Illinois, and Creve Coeur, Missouri. She then joined Cathy Corich Molloy in Covington, Washington to help her in raising her children Patrick, Elizabeth, Maggie, and Kevin. Although she suffered from dementia the last few years, she always maintained her kind, pleasant, helpful personality. Ida Marie is with God now where she is once again surrounded by children and is basking in the joy of being with them now as she was in life. She will be truly missed. A life long Catholic, she will be buried in St. Monica’s Cemetery in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
