Helen (Jacobs) Pearson
August 22, 1930 – March 1, 2013
Helen loved her family, writing poetry and being outdoors. Her home was a welcoming place where family, friends and neighbors gathered. Helen was born and raised in Portland attending Immaculata Academy. She married Ove Pearson, her husband for 61 years until his death in 2011. Together they raised six children and were active members of the Madeleine parish until their move to Kent Washington in 1976. After raising her children, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington and was a published poet. Helen and Ove established Pearson’s Nursery in Kent, WA which they operated together for 16 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist parish, NW Renaissance Poets and the Pacific NW Fuchsia Society. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ove; son, David; sisters, Phyllis “Betty” Jacobs and Gerry Warner; and parents, Peter and Beulah Jacobs. Helen was the heart of our family and will be missed by her children; Steve, Janet, Laure, Paula, John, our spouses, children and grandchildren. A Memorial Mass Celebration was held at St. John the Baptist Church, Covington, WA. Donations in her memory may be made to the Green River Community College Foundation, Natural Resources Fund.
