George Juarez was born on July 4, 1949, in Los Angeles, CA. He was the only son of Hector Julio Juarez and Doris Blower. After losing his beloved father to cancer at age 17, George enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he bravely served in multiple forward areas and active combat zones during the Vietnam War. Following discharge from the USMC, he received a bachelor’s degree in economics and subsequent law degree, both from UC Berkeley, before going on to complete postgraduate studies at Oxford University in England. George was known for his incredible wealth of knowledge, most notably on the subjects of British and U.S. military history. He was a lifelong learner and many described him as a beloved teacher and mentor.
After 40 years in legal practice, George was ready for a change of pace. He moved to Kent, WA in 2019, where he found a great deal of joy and fulfillment working with and for his fellow U.S. military veterans at the Veterans Benefits Administration. George passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2022, at his peaceful, waterfront home in Kent; he was 72 years old.
George is survived by his 3 daughters, Rachel, Lindsay and Alexa, and 3 grandchildren, Sean, Avery and Henry. He will be forever missed and remembered for his kind heart and sharp sense of humor. George will be laid to rest with military funeral honors on June 20, 2022 at Tahoma National Cemetery.
