On Saturday, July 23, 2022, lifelong Kent resident Betty Acheson passed away at age 88.
Betty was born in 1934 to Clifton and Julia Irons. She worked at her family’s Kent restaurant, Evergreen Grill and graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1952. She attended Central Washington University before becoming a flight attendant with West Coast Airlines. She was chief flight attendant when she married lifelong Kent resident Dave Acheson in 1963. Together they raised two daughters, Cheryl and Carol.
Betty enjoyed volunteering at the American Cancer Society Thrift Store. She loved to play the piano, decorate her home and gardening. She was known for creative recipes, telling it like it is and compassion for those in need.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Dave, parents Clifton and Julia Irons, and twin sister Barbara. She is survived by her daughters Cheryl (Kevin) and Carol (Fred), her grandchildren Tatum, Trent and Tessa, her brother LeRoy (Margaret) and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be Thursday, August 18 at Hillcrest Burial Park at 11 am. Reception to follow.
