Man fatally shot inside vehicle at Des Moines Safeway parking lot | Update

Two taken into custody by Tukwila Police after photos of suspects, vehicle released

Tukwila Police on Tuesday, July 25 located the suspect vehicle and two people reportedly involved in the fatal shooting July 24 at a Des Moines Safeway.

Tukwila Police attempted to stop the vehicle, a grey 2020 Kia Forte, but the vehicle fled, according to Des Moines Police. The vehicle crashed and officers were able to take one male and one female into custody. A third male remained at large as officer, K-9 units and the Guardian One helicopter from the King County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search.

Des Moines Police had earlier on July 25 released photos of the vehicle, which had been stolen, and two of the suspects.

A man was fatally shot Monday, July 24 while inside a vehicle in the Safeway parking lot in Des Moines at 21401 Pacific Highway S.

Officers were dispatched at about 5:15 p.m. to 911 reports of a shooting, according to Des Moines Police. Officers found a man in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Officer began lifesaving efforts but the man died at the scene.

The man and a woman were inside the vehicle, according to witnesses and video surveillance. A vehicle arrived with two unknown occupants, according to police. Both suspects got out of the vehicle and began shooting at the man in the vehicle, who was shot several times. The woman was not injured. The shooters got back in their vehicle and fled.
