Auburn Police arrest man in Valentine’s Day shooting

Boyfriend of woman shot faces murder charge

Auburn Police arrested a 32-year-old man following an investigation into the shooting death of a 34-year-old woman.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 2:44 p.m. Feb. 14 when a reporting party called regarding a woman who was found lying on the ground with at least one gunshot wound in her upper body and a bullet casing nearby.

Twenty-six hours later on Feb. 15, police arrested Calvin Jackson, the ex-boyfriend of the woman and the father of her children.

Arriving on the scene with the Valley Regional Fire Authority, officers determined the woman suffered “at least” one gunshot wound to the upper body.

Officers and detectives interviewed multiple individuals and found multiple sources of surveillance footage of the incident, said Kolby Crossley, spokesperson for the Auburn Police Department.

During an interview with the suspect, Jackson reportedly admitted to shooting the victim in her vehicle multiple times, according to Crossley.

According to Crossley, the suspect drove the vehicle to the 3700 block of West Valley Highway North and removed her body from the vehicle, placing her in the bushes.

Jackson has been charged with domestic violence murder in the first degree and his bail has been set at $5 million.
