Teen dies in Auburn shooting

Officers responded at 10:45 p.m. July 12 to a shooting in the 500 block of A Street Southeast.

A 16-year-old boy died on July 12 in Auburn after a confrontation between two parties resulted in a shooting.

According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Xavier Lamont Machi Landry died on July 12 in Auburn as a result of multiple gunshot wounds sustained in a roadway on A Street Southeast. Medical examiners identified Landry’s death as a homicide.

According to the Auburn Police Department, officers responded at 10:45 p.m. to a shooting in the 500 block of A Street Southeast. After arriving at the scene, officers discovered the teen suffering from “at least one gunshot wound.”

According to an email from Kolby Crossley, a spokesperson for the Auburn Police Department, Landry suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

First responders attempted lifesaving measures on the boy but later pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Shortly afterward, first responders discovered two additional minors with gunshot wounds in the arms and legs, and then transported them to a local hospital for treatment. As of July 13, both minors had been released from the hospital.

Investigators collected evidence from the scene, including 19 shell casings, cellphones and more.

According to Crossley, investigators are examining the possibility that the incident was gang-related. Police said they do not believe there is a threat to the community, with the shooting the result of a confrontation between two groups outdoors.

As of July 13, law enforcement had no suspects, and investigation into the fatal shooting continues.
