Renton Police reportedly responded to a murder-suicide shooting at The Landing in Renton on Nov. 21.
A Renton Police spokesperson said the department received the first 911 call at 2:39 p.m. on Nov. 21, reporting that someone had been shot in the street near the Regal Cinemas.
Subsequent callers said that there were two male gunshot victims, and other witnesses stated that one male had shot the other before shooting himself.
The first officers arrived at 2:41 p.m., and found a 28-year-old male and a 44-year-old male with obvious gunshot wounds. They started evaluating both for possible trauma care, but quickly determined that both were deceased.
The 44-year-old reportedly had a loaded handgun within arm’s reach.
Witnesses at the scene reportedly told police that the two males were both walking towards the crosswalk, when the 44-year-old male pulled out a gun, shot the 28-year-old male four times, then walked a short distance before shooting himself in the head.
Police said they have determined that the two knew each other, and that this was a deliberate targeted attack, with no concern of further threat to the community.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of both bodies, and it will be up to them to pronounce the cause and manner of death for both men, and to provide their identities.
