Muckleshoot Tribe reaches sport betting agreement with state

State Gambling Commission to allow sports wagering at Auburn casino

The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe in Auburn announced Friday, May 14 that the tribe has reached a tentative agreement with the Washington State Gambling Commission to allow sports wagering at its casino.

“While there are still several state and federal procedures and approvals necessary before sports wagering can start, this agreement with the Gambling Commission is an important step in the regulatory process,” said Jaison Elkins, Muckleshoot Tribal Council chair, in a press release.

When finalized Muckleshoot Casino guests will be able to place bets on professional and certain collegiate sports, Olympic Games and e-sports competitions. Betting on in-state college sports or minor league teams will be prohibited under the agreement. Mobile wagering on smart phone apps will be allowed as long as bets are placed on casino grounds.

“The Muckleshoot Tribe looks forward to offering this new gaming product to our casino guests,” said Conrad Granito, Muckleshoot Casino general manager. “As the premier entertainment destination, and the biggest and best in the Northwest, we are committed to making sports betting a safe, secure and fun experience for our guests.”
