A man is in critical condition after a shooting near the Fred Meyer in Renton on Tuesday night, March 7.
Officers were dispatched to the area of the Fred Meyer, 17801 108th Ave. SE, after a nearby gas station employee reported several gunshot sounds in the area just before 11 p.m., said Renton Police Department spokesperson Cyndie Morris in a Wednesday, March 8 phone interview.
Morris said officers searched the area in the south end of the Fred Meyer parking lot where they found a vehicle with a shattered driver’s side window and bullet holes on the side of the car.
Officers found a driver inside the vehicle who had a gunshot wound to the head and was unresponsive. He was transported to a nearby hospital. Morris said the man, who is in his late 30s, is breathing but in “critical condition.”
Police later tacked down witnesses who left the scene, but Morris said they were of little help to the investigators. Police are still actively investigating, according to Morris.
