A two-vehicle collision on Monday, March 11 along State Route 599 in Tukwila left a Federal Way woman dead and an Auburn man hospitalized.
According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, 28-year-old Selena L. Salazar-Garcia of Federal Way died on March 11 as a result of multiple blunt force injuries in a roadway crash.
First responders transported Salazar-Garcia to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following the collision where she died, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Salazar-Garcia was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision, according to the State Patrol.
A 56-year-old Auburn man, driving in a separate vehicle, suffered injuries in the crash and was transported to Valley Medical Center in Renton.
According to the State Patrol, at about 2:56 a.m. Salazar-Garcia’s vehicle was traveling southbound on State Route 599, passing in lane two of two, when it crossed the center median, rolling onto the northbound lanes and striking the Auburn man’s vehicle head-on.
Salazar-Garcia’s vehicle arrived at a stop on its side in a ditch on the right shoulder, and the Auburn man’s vehicle arrived at a stop in lane one.
The collision resulted in roadway blockages for 4 hours and 51 minutes, according to the State Patrol.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, according to the State Patrol, which reported that drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident.
