A multivehicle rollover collision July 14 on Renton Issaquah Road Southeast, aka State Route 900, resulted in multiple injuries.
A 24-year-old Renton man has been booked for investigation of charges including vehicular assault and driving under the influence as a result of the collision, which occurred at approximately 5:09 p.m. Sunday, July 14.
Four individuals, including the 24-year-old Renton driver, suffered injuries resulting in transportation to medical facilities after the collision.
According to a news release, the 24-year-old Renton driver was driving eastbound on State Route 900, approaching Talus Road, as the four other vehicles were driving westbound.
As the 24-year-old’s vehicle negotiated a curve, the vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and struck one of the four westbound vehicles, containing two Kent residents ages 44 and 54. The impact rotated the Kent residents’ vehicle completely around in the lane.
The 24-year-old’s vehicle was propelled eastbound partially in the westbound lane where it struck the vehicle of a 51-year-old Federal Way woman, pushing it into a ditch where it rolled and arrived at a stop on its side in the westbound lane.
The 24-year-old’s vehicle rotated sideways as a result of the second impact into the westbound lane, striking a fourth vehicle containing two Issaquah residents in their 60s.
The 24-year-old’s vehicle arrived at a stop in a ditch as the Issaquah residents’ vehicle came to rest in the westbound lane.
A 38-year-old Stanwood driver swerved to avoid the collision and was struck by debris before arriving at a stop on the eastbound shoulder.
First responders transported the 24-year-old Renton man, the 51-year-old Federal Way woman, and the two Issaquah residents in their 60s to medical facilities as a result of injuries suffered in the collision.
All four vehicles directly involved in the collision have been totaled, according to a news release, with the Stanwood driver’s vehicle receiving reportable damage.
Investigation of the incident found the collision resulted from the 24-year-old Renton man driving under the influence and driving too fast for the conditions.
The collision resulted in roadway blockages for approximately five hours.
