One person is dead and another is severely injured after a shooting in the parking lot of a Federal Way bar early Saturday morning.
At about 12:30 a.m. Feb. 18, Federal Way officers were dispatched to the Brickyard Pub (28845 Military Road S.) for reports of shots fired in the parking lot, according to Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of Federal Way Police. Police learned two people had been struck by gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers located the victims and began life-saving measures. A 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old woman, the second victim, was transported to Harborview Medical Center with “a severe, but non-life threatening injury to her leg,” according to Schwan.
The suspect vehicle was found by a Des Moines police officer and the suspect — a 31-year-old man — was detained without further incident shortly after the shooting, Schwan said.
Police believe an argument in the parking lot escalated into a shooting. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit are investigating the homicide.
Schwan said there is no threat to the community as the sole suspect is in custody.
