Two men were shot and injured on the East Hill in Kent within about two hours and 2 miles of each other in apparent separate incidents.

Both shootings were early in the morning of Saturday, Aug. 20.

A 33-year-old man, of unincorporated King County but with a Kent address, was shot at about 12:56 a.m. in the 25600 block of 102nd Place SE, according to an Aug. 26 email from Kent Police Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner.

“Officers were told that the victim was in an argument , in the parking lot, with a family member,” Kasner said. “An unknown subject, to the involved parties, approached and inserted themselves into the argument. As that argument continued with the suspect, the suspect pulled a gun and shot the victim.”

The suspect fled the scene. Paramedics transported the 33-year-old man to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“Kent detectives responded and continue to investigate the circumstances,” Kasner said.

The second shooting was at about 3:19 a.m. on the roadside in the 23300 block of 100th Avenue SE.

A 24-year-old Tukwila man, who allegedly just came from nearby street races, was parked in the park smoking a cigarette, Kasner said.

“That is when an unknown subject shot at him,” Kasner said. “The victim ran in one direction and the suspect fled in the other.”

Kasner said the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Detectives are investigating the circumstances and the sequence of events that led to this incident.

“No arrests have been made and these two cases do not appear to be related at this time,” Kasner said.
