Sept. 10 update: (the following is information from the Enumclaw Fire Department’s Facebook page, posted Sept. 8, and the Washington State Department of Transportation, posted Sept. 10)
The Fish Fire, as it’s being called, will keep State Route 410 closed through the weekend and into next week due to downed trees and power lines in the road, according to the Washington DOT.
The fire is now being managed by the Department of Natural Resources, and the Enumclaw Fire Department is no longer on site.
According to DNR, more than 150 acres of forest has burned as of Sept. 9.
“Ground and air resources are on scene,” DHR posted on their Twitter, which is how the department will continue to update residents. “They’re hopeful the contingency road that is around the whole fire will aid in containment.”

Firefighters from Enumclaw, Greenwater Fire Department, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Buckley Fire Department, Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the US Forest Service are on scene of an approximately 10-15 acre wildfire on Highway 410 at mile marker 32, just past [Mud Mountain Road on SR 410]. The fire was called in at 5:20 a.m. on Sept. 8.
When firefighters arrived they found a fire spreading up the steep timbered slopes on the north side of the highway and a slow moving fire on the south side. Fire attack on the south side of the highway has proven to be successful. The north portion of the fire is being assessed by a DNR helicopter. Additional hand crews and heavy equipment have been requested through DNR and are arriving now.
There are no threats to any homes in the area and the distance to any structures would allow ample time for any evacuation orders if that was necessary. If there were evacuations people would be contacted through the reverse 911 system, social media, media partners, and on the ground resources. Given the fire’s distance from structures and homes there would be ample time to make those notifications.
