Update: Kent to get cold temperatures but snow unlikely

High of 23 degrees and low could hit 15 Friday night; 24 and 16 on Saturday

Below freezing temperatures are predicted for Kent from Thursday night, Jan. 11 through Monday, Jan. 15 but the chance of snow is unlikely, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters on Wednesday, Jan. 10 predicted a few inches of snow but revised that outlook on Thursday, Jan. 11.

The forecast:

Thursday: Rain and snow likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature rising to near 41 degrees by noon, then falling to around 34 during the remainder of the day. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday night: A 50% chance of snow, mainly before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Wind chill values between 13 and 18 degrees. North wind around 8 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a steady temperature around 23. Wind chill values between 10 and 16. North northeast wind around 7 mph.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. Wind chill values between 2 and 10. East northeast wind around 9 mph.

Saturday: A 20% chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 24. East northeast wind around 10 mph.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 16.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 32.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19.

M.L.King Day: Partly sunny, with a high near 36.

Monday night: A slight chance of snow after 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22.
