March 9

Domestic violence: 7:31 p.m., patrol responded to the Alderbrooke Apartments, 412 Novak Lane, for the fourth occasion on the same evening pertaining to a couple being involved with domestic violence. Each time the victim was noncooperative and walked away hindering ability to develop probable cause. Eventually, the victim met with officers at a different location. She provided a detailed account of the assaults she sustained over the past week by the suspect. The following morning detectives served a search warrant, arrested the suspect, and located items of evidentiary value for the case.

March 10

Gunshot wound: 9:38 p.m., patrol responded to Valley Medical Center in Renton for a possible gunshot wound victim. The victim said he had stopped to smoke marijuana in Kent when he was approached by three or four males on foot, who stated several times “you see me, give it up.” One pointed a gun at him, which he slapped away twice, causing the gun to fire each time. The suspect with the gun then hit him in the head multiple times with the gun.

March 16

Theft of saws: 9:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to an unwanted subject hanging out in an apartment building in the 26000 block of 106th Place SE. The subject was in possession of two brand new Makita saws. Through investigation it was determined the subject had stolen the equipment from Home Depot earlier in the morning. Video of the theft was recovered as evidence and the property was returned. The subject was booked on his Kent Municipal Court assault warrant and arrested for third-degree theft.

March 17

Vehicle fire: 9:55 p.m., patrol responded to a vehicle fire in the area of East Saar Street and Central Avenue South. The caller reported that there was a lot of smoke and one person inside the vehicle. Upon patrol arrival, the sole occupant was removed from the fully engulfed semi-truck and taken a safe distance away. The patient was initially responsive but struggled to catch his breath. Moments later, he lost consciousness, stopped breathing, and had no pulse. Patrol began CPR and maintained life-saving efforts until Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority took over. The patient was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

March 18

Purse grab: 10:35 a.m., a suspect attempted to grab the purse of a victim as she stood outside of the doorway of Altha’s Louisiana Cajun Seasoning & Spices, 201 E. Meeker St., using her cellphone. When the victim ripped her purse away, the suspect threatened her “not to move” and that he “had a gun.” The victim fled inside of the store and the owner was able to scare off the suspect. Officers located the suspect a short distance away and he was taken into custody.

March 21

Drive-by shooting: 1:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting at the AM/PM, 24014 116th Ave. SE. A male on location had been shot in the leg during what was described as a drive by. Officers arrived and determined that three suspects had shot at the victim while he was inside his vehicle. The victim’s mother, who happened to be at the location getting gas, drove her vehicle into the suspect vehicle. The suspects attempted to take the mom’s vehicle and she fled on foot. The three suspects fled across the street to the Kent East Hill Nursery, 11644 SE 240th St. Two of the suspects continued fleeing on foot while the third suspect stole an occupied vehicle at gunpoint. The victim driver was able to exit the vehicle and run as the suspect drove away. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. According to the victim, he had planned to meet the suspects at the location to “smoke” and when they tried to take his “cush” (marijuana) they shot him. A firearm and several casings were located on scene.

Pursuit: 4 p.m., a male was arrested for eluding and assault-domestic violence after assaulting his girlfriend and then leading officers on a chase that ended at the Fred Meyer in Covington. No injuries and no vehicle damage.
