Kauffman keeps slight lead over Kaur in Senate race to take on Boyce

Just 114 votes separate the two Democrats in 47th District showdown

Claudia Kauffman leads Satwinder Kaur by just 61 votes in a primary race among the two Democrats to take on Republican Bill Boyce for the Legislative District 47 Senate seat on the Nov. 8 ballot.

Boyce, the Kent City Council president, won the Aug. 2 primary to earn a spot in the November election. He holds 45.60% of the votes (13,642 votes) in results released Aug. 8 by King County Elections. He had 44.56% of the vote after election night results.

Kauffman has 27.22% (8,144 votes) and Kaur 27.02% (8,083 votes).

King County Elections will release more results all week before certifying the election on Aug. 16.

Kauffman, of Kent, held the 47th District Senate seat from 2007 to 2010 before losing to Joe Fain, R-Auburn. Kaur serves on the Kent City Council along with Boyce.
