Hotel key cards lead to prostitution arrest | Kent Police Blotter

A list of incident reports from the Kent Police Department.

Prostitution

Police arrested a woman for investigation of prostitution-loitering after officers spotted her walking northbound with another woman 6:19 p.m. May 23 in the 23600 block of Pacific Highway South.

Police recognized the woman from about a month ago, when they warned her to stay out of the area or she would be arrested for prostitution-loitering, according to the police report.

The woman told police in the May 23 incident that she was walking home to Federal Way. When the officers asked her why she walked northbound away from Federal Way instead of southbound toward the city, she told them she needed to catch a bus.

When police asked the woman if she had picked up any men that day, she replied, “Not that many.” Officers found two hotel key cards in the woman’s purse.

The second woman told officers she had been staying in Tacoma and had worked as a prostitute for about 14 years. Police warned the second woman to stay out of the area or she also would be arrested for prostitution-loitering.

Animal

A man called police to report a dog in a vehicle with the windows rolled up at 5:23 p.m. May 24 at a parking lot in the 22600 block of 72nd Avenue South.

The man told officers the temperature gauge in his vehicle read 91 degrees, so he called police to make sure the dog would be all right.

When officers arrived at the parking lot, they went inside and found the owners of the vehicle.

The owners said they had been inside the business for about 30 minutes.

Police had the owners open the vehicle so they could check on the dog, a 2-year-old cocker spaniel.

The officers said the dog barked at them and did not seem to be lethargic or unresponsive.

Because the dog did not seemed to be harmed, the officers filed a report for informational purposes only.
