It was raining bullets on freeways Wednesday night, Dec. 6 in South King County.

Four shootings were reported by the Washington State Patrol, three on Interstate 5 and one on State Route 167, according to Trooper Rick Johnson, spokesperson for the agency.

The first two appeared to be connected.

A shooting at about 9:20 p.m. on southbound I-5 just north of South 320th Street in Federal Way injured one, Johnson said. Subsequently another shooting occurred at about 9:42 p.m. on northbound I-5 near South 200th Street in SeaTac. Both shootings involved a suspect vehicle described as potentially a blue newer Nissan 370Z coupe.

The 370Z was light blue and with a spoiler, with a white male driver, in his 30s to 40s with a handgun. He was the sole occupant of the car. The last information was that the driver exited to Interurban Avenue in Tukwila.

Paramedics transported the victim in the 320th shooting to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

At about 10:27 p.m., another shooting occurred on southbound State Route 167 near Ellingson Road exit in Auburn, according to Johnson. There was no vehicle description so troopers are unsure if it was connected to the earlier shootings. Nobody was injured.

A fourth shooting, confirmed by troopers not to be tied to the others, occurred at about 11:39 p.m. on southbound I-5 near South 320th Street in Federal Way. Nobody was injured.

Johnson said the four shootings in one night is as “alarming as any one shooting is.”

Detectives are working this case nonstop, he said.

The State Patrol has recorded at least 48 freeway shootings so far this year in King County, Johnson said.

Anyone with information about the four shootings is asked to call 911.
