Teen pedestrian dies in Kent after collision with two vehicles | Update

Victim identified as 17-year-old girl in early Sunday morning, Jan. 8 incident along 132nd Avenue SE

A female pedestrian was killed early Sunday morning, Jan. 8 in Kent while trying to cross 132nd Avenue Southeast on the East Hill.

The female has been identified as Simran Gaut, 17, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. The teen died from multiple blunt force injuries.

Officers responded at about 5:45 a.m. to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision near the 23300 block of 132nd Avenue SE, according to Kent Police. Officers found Gaut unresponsive in the roadway. She died at the scene.

Initial reports indicated Gaut may have been attempting to cross the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound, which caused her to enter the northbound lane, according to police. A vehicle in the northbound direction also struck her.

The drivers of each car stopped immediately and remained at the location for the police to arrive. Both drivers cooperated with the investigation. There are no indications or belief that either driver was impaired or that speed was a factor in the collision, according to police.
