Fallen trees closed at least five streets on a windy Thursday morning, Nov. 17 in Kent.
Puget Sound Fire responded at about 8:20 a.m. to a large tree blocking Military Road South near South 36th Street on the West Hill, according to Puget Sound Fire. The tree blocked all lanes for a bit until crews removed it from the road.
“The winds are picking up, be careful out there,” Puget Sound Fire tweeted.
The city of Kent Public Works Department emailed traffic alerts Thursday morning about four streets blocked by fallen trees.
• Second Avenue South downtown between West Gowe Street and West Titus Street, closure was at 10:50 a.m. due to a tree on the road
• 132nd Avenue SE on the East Hill between SE 256th Street and SE Kent Kangley Road, closure was at 10:35 a.m. due to a fallen tree in power lines. PSE was notified by the city.
• Lake Fenwick Road South between South 272nd Way and South 254th Street, closure was at 11:25 a.m. due to a fallen tree in power lines. PSE notified by the city.
• SE 216th Street closed between 103rd Place SE to 108th Avenue SE, closure at 12:30 p.m. due to a downed tree and power lines. PSE notified.
As of noon Thursday, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has not reported any significant power outages in Kent, just a few scattered outages.
