KENT EVENTS

•Earth Day, April 19

9 a.m. to noon, Service Club Ballfields on Kent’s East Hill. A number of planting and park improvement projects are planned. A shuttle van will run between the park and school.

•Arbor Day, April 26

9 a.m. to noon, West Fenwick Park, 3824 Reith Road (42nd Avenue South & Reith Road). Kent has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation every year since 2003 because of staff and citizen commitment to trees. Volunteers will remove invasive plants at this West Hill park, then planting and mulching hundreds of native trees in the cleared area.

Events take place regardless of weather. Volunteers should bring gloves, wear sturdy shoes or boots and dress for inclement weather. People bringing their own hand tools are advised to label them.
