Golf America event tees off at Riverbend

The City of Kent will play host to a PGA Play Golf America Day 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 19 at the City-owned Riverbend Golf Complex, 2019 W. Meeker St., Kent.

During the event, golfers of all ages and skill levels can come for free instruction, equipment demonstrations and more.

Admission is free.

Police warn against Medicaid scammer

Kent Police are warning senior citizens to be aware of a man who recently phoned a 67-year-old Kent woman to offer her a free Medicaid card in exchange for personal information.

The Kent woman told police the man called April 4 and introduced himself as Robert Jackson calling from Medicaid in Washington, D.C., according to a Kent Police media release. The man told her she would get a free Medicaid if she updated her records.

The man then asked the woman for her date of birth, social security number and bank account information. The woman did not provide the man with any information.

Kent Police recommend to residents to protect themselves from identity theft or fraud to not give out any personal information if you did not make the phone call or you do not know who is calling. Simply hang up the phone.

Historical society seeks docents

Kent Historical Society Museum is seeking volunteers to provide tours of the historic Bereiter House, 855 E. Smith St., Kent.

Volunteers must commit to serve one day per month. Training will be provided. The museum is open noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.

Senior tappers coming to Kent

Jean Emily and her Senior Tappers will perform at 3 p.m. April 19 at Arbor Village assisted living community, 24121 116th Ave. S.E., Kent.

Veterans outreach set

Veterans and their families are invited to a Veterans Outreach 3:15 to 6:15 p.m. April 15 at Kent Regional Library, 212 Second Ave. N.

During the event, Disabled American Veterans Service Officers will be on hand to help veterans apply for benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Puget Sound blood drives need volunteers

Puget Sound Blood Center is seeking volunteers to assist with blood drives and bone marrow registry drives throughout King County.

Volunteers must be available in the day or early evening twice a month, and must have reliable transportation.

Radio dramas offered

Radio drama fans of all ages can come together for listening sessions 10:30 a.m. Thursdays at the Kent Senior Activity Center, 600 E. Smith St.
