The 55-year-old woman killed by a train last week in Kent has been identified as Taryle L. Stalter.
Stalter was identified this week by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. Neither the Medical Examiner’s Office nor the Kent Police had a hometown for Stalter, who was struck at the James Street crossing downtown at about 7:20 p.m. Saturday at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway tracks.
Witnesses reported seeing the woman walking across the tracks near James Street, appeared to have fallen on the tracks and was attempting to get back up when the train entered the crossing and struck her.
Police had no further information on Wednesday about the case.
“In reading the reports, it is unknown what actually transpired just before the train hit the victim,” police spokesman Melanie Robinson said in an email.
