Woman injured in Highway 167 crash Sunday in Kent | Update: remains in serious condition

Car veered far off freeway near South 212th Street

A 23-year-old Mukilteo woman was seriously injured when her car veered across all lanes of Highway 167, left the freeway, clipped a tree, rolled several times and ejected her near South 212th Street in Kent.

The woman remained outside the vehicle for about six hours before a passing driver saw the vehicle shortly after 8 a.m. on Sunday and turned around to contact the vehicle, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The woman was northbound in the HOV lane sometime after 2:15 a.m. when it left the highway to the right shoulder and went into a brush embankment, hit a tree, rolled several times and ended up on a restricted access road. The woman was not wearing a seat belt. She was driving a 2014 Toyota Scion tC, which was totaled.

Paramedics transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. As of Tuesday, the woman remained in serious condition in the intensive care unit, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Speed was listed as the cause of the crash and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved, according to the State Patrol. No charges have been filed.
