A 37-year-old woman fatally shot April 5 in Kent has been identified as Laquana Green.
Green, of Kent, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. She was shot during an argument with a 23-year-old Kent man at the Alderbrook Apartments, 412 Novak Lane.
Officers responded at about 4:35 p.m. to the report of a shooting, according to Kent Police. When officers arrived, they found Green with gunshot wounds. Officers performed CPR on her as medics responded to conduct advanced life-saving measures. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, but did not survive her injuries.
Initial information is that Green was in an argument with a Kent man, prior to him allegedly shooting her. The man remained on location when officers arrived and they took him into custody to be interviewed by detectives. The man and Green apparently knew each other, according to police.
Detectives are working to determine the relationship between the man and Green, as well as the sequence of events that led to the shooting.
According to police, they do not believe this incident is connected to the April 4 homicide that occurred in the same apartment complex.
Family and friends of Green are raising funds to help pay for funeral expenses through M B Daniel Mortuary Service of Renton.
Kent has had six homicides so far in 2021, including four in a 15-day period and two in two days, each at the Alderbrook Apartments. The city had eight homicides in 2020, four in 2019 and seven in 2018.
