Washington Engage invites the public to a community forum to explore the vulnerabilities of youth to trafficking in the community.
The forum begins at 7 p.m. Monday, March 9 at the Kent Senior Center, 600 E. Smith St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. It is free to the public.
Three area coalitions against trafficking are partnering with WAEngage to host the event.
The program will include a social time with hors d’oeuvres followed by a dramatization of several trafficking scenarios. The keynote speaker is Dr. Carolyn West, an award-winning author and associate professor of psychology at the University of Washington, Tacoma.
Learn about the adverse effects cultural grooming has on children and youth, as well as adults, the difference between empowerment and exploitation, and what parents and concerned citizens can do to address these issues.
