Two people in a Kent restaurant were injured after a vehicle crashed into the business when a driver confused the brake and gas pedal.
Firefighters responded at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13 to the Imperial Garden restaurant in the Great Wall Shopping Mall, 18230 E. Valley Highway, according an Aug. 14 email from Puget Sound Fire spokesperson Pat Pawlak.
“The collision into the restaurant was pedal confusion, between the brake and the gas pedal,” said Kent Police Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner in an Aug. 15 email. “There were no signs of impairment.”
The car was driven by a 73-year-old Puyallup woman, Kasner said. She was not injured.
Two people in the restaurant were injured, Pawlak said. They were treated by firefighters from Puget Sound Fire and Renton Regional Fire Authority as well as King County Medic One paramedics. Paramedics transported one person to a Seattle area hospital and the second to a local hospital.
One person had critical injuries and the other person had minor injuries, Kasner said.
