Kent Police continue to work through a number of leads as they attempt to identify the shooter or shooters involved in an incident that critically injured two men in their 30s at about 8:13 p.m. Thursday at the Country Squire Apartments, 10835 S.E. 200th St., in the Panther Lake area of Kent.
Officers were called to the area for reports of gunshots, according to a Kent Police media release.
Within moments, callers to 911 indicated that multiple persons had been struck by the gunfire. The first arriving police officers located two victims. Personnel from the Kent Fire Department and King County Medic 1 worked to stabilize both men before rushing them to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The men, a 38-year-old Renton man and a 37-year-old resident of the apartment complex, both sustained life threatening injuries. As of this update, their condition remains serious.
Police have learned that the incident started with a dispute in the parking lot of the apartment complex and that it involved several people. Moments later, shots rang out. One victim collapsed at the scene, while the other fled to a nearby residence.
“Indications are that the people involved in this incident knew each other and it was not a random crime,” said Kent Police Sgt. Pat Lowery.
Kent Police are not releasing specific suspect information or a description at this time, Lowery said.
