Two families were displaced after a residential fire on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 29 near the 15200 block of Southeast 272nd Street in Kent.
Multiple 911 calls reported a large black column of smoke, according to Puget Sound Fire. Firefighters arrived within four minutes and found the structure 50% involved in fire with all occupants out. There were no injuries.
Crews commenced an aggressive offensive attack and limited the fire to the structure of origin with some damage to the unit next door due to the radiant heat. In total 12 fire department units responded including assistance from Mountain View Fire and Rescue, Zone3 Fire Rehab and King County Medic One.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Red Cross assisted the two displaced families.
